Bolivia Caranavi Coffee Beans
Bolivia's Colonial Caranavi coffee derives its name from the small farmers known as colonials stemming from a government land reform in the early 1990's allowing them to reacquire land taken from then by large landowners in the 1950's.
The Bolivian coffee we sell is grown in the Yungas region in the state of La Paz on the majestic Eastern ridge of the Andes mountain range at elevations of 4,000 - 6,000 feet. A total of 41 small organic coffee farms produce this rare coffee. All farming is done in accordance to methods designed to optimize quality without the use of chemical fertilizers.
The organic farming coupled with unusual tropical climate combine to produce a heavy bodied and pleasantly spicy coffee with mild acidity.
