This exceptional coffee originates from the Indonesian island of Sumatra. A rich, heavy body, exotic flavor, and low acidity all characterize this spectacular, but rare, coffee. Sumatra Gayo Mountain is home to the Gayonese people who are indigenous to Takengon and are referred to as “urang Gayo.” This region around Takengon is very well known for its coffee. This area of Indonesia is very dependent on the coffee farms and villages who have to haul their coffee crops to mills located in port cities over 15 hours away.
